Camp Blount
After the massacre at Fort Mims, Tennessee militia were
called up and given orders to rendezvous in Fayetteville,
Tennessee, to prepare for action against the Red Stick
Creeks. Andrew Jackson joined them here in October
1813 at this camp, named after the governor, to take
command and begin the march southward.
The site is located in downtown Fayetteville on Huntsville
Highway (Highway 431/231) and is marked with an
historic marker near a few ancient oak trees.
