Fort Perry is believed to have been constructed by General John Floyd's troops
in the fall of 1813, and is known to have been garrisoned in 1814. It was a
star-shaped fort located along the Federal Road about halfway between Fort
Lawrence on the Flint River and Fort Mitchell on the Chattahoochee River.
A historic marker for Fort Perry stands about ten miles north of Buena Vista,
Georgia, on Georgia Highway 41. The fort site lies nearby on private property.
